Our Farm
Inspiration Plantation is a Diversified Family Farm,
specializing in Pasture Raised Chicken, Eggs, Turkey, Duck, Pork and
both Grass-Fed Lamb & Beef (all following Joel Salatin's model)
using rotational grazing as well as humane animal husbandry,
allowing each animal to express its innate animal nature:
Chickens & Turkeys to scratch the ground and eat bugs
Lambs & Cows to eat green pasture and then lay down when they are full
Pigs to root around better that a rototiller ever could!
We subscribe to the adage of "You Are What You Eat!"
Happy Healthy Animals = Happy Healthy Food = Happy Healthy People!
Though we are not certified organic we follow organic practices -
All our animals are fed a diet of fresh air, water and
luscious green salad (pasture) and are hormone and antibiotic free.
Our poultry & pig's diet are both supplemented by a locally milled, Certified Organic,
GMO-free feed. Our pigs also receive barley and in the Spring are raised in the forests
surrounding IP and in the Fall are finished on fruit from our orchard,
while our cow's & lamb’s diet consists of 100% pure pasture!
We process all of our poultry on-farm in our state inspected/permitted facility
and our beef, pork and lamb CSP meat shares are processed by a local mobile butcher.
Beginning Summer 2012 we will begin selling our poultry and eggs
and individual meat cuts on-farm in our new FarmStore creating an opportunity to
know your food & your farmer!
We plan to continue selling at Farmers Markets this year as well.
We have regular events, workshops and farm tours--
