Our Philosophy
. . .
Our Guiding Principles
Simplicity
Simplicity on the farm means keeping things simple.
In our animal production models we do our best to mimic nature.
As long as a chicken can do what it was designed to do
it will be happy and produce for us.

We subscribe to the adage of "You Are What You Eat!"
Happy healthy animals = Happy healthy food = Happy healthy people!
Sustainability
Sustainability on the farm means supporting practices that have our
long term interests and the planet's long term interests in mind.
For example, when we made the decision to use a locally sourced, GMO-free feed
for the chickens, we felt that supporting our local agriculture economy
would be helpful in reducing fossil fuels used in transportation
and steer money toward smaller farms that could become
our only feed option in the event of us running out of fossil fuels.

For us, sustainability also refers to the conservation of our personal resources;
Our Time, Talent and Money.
Serenity
Serenity on the farm is the natural result of both Simplicity & Sustainability.
We use Serenity as a guide to help us know if we are on track.

Should we or our animals not have it,
we go to the other two principles to find out where we are off balance.
